Florida Flight Pick up Win, Collect over 750 Toys at 3rd Annual Toys for Tots Charity Basketball Gam

(Orlando, FL) - The Florida Flight defeated the Palm Beach Titans by a score of 125-90 in their 3rd Annual Toys for Tots Charity Basketball Game on Sunday, December 9th .

The Titans led 35-33 at the end of the first quarter, thanks to a surprising 9 point quarter from rookie guard Graham Russ. The Flight, sparked by a 13-point quarter by guard Jon Adamson, regained control in the second, taking a 65-56 lead going into halftime.

The second quarter also saw the return of Flight big man Yusuf Baker, who frustrated the Titans defensively the rest of the way. The Flight held the Titans to just 33 points in the second half.

The 3rd annual event also collected over 750 toys, making it the most successful Toys for Tots event in Florida Flight history. The team also provided free pictures with Santa, thanks to Smiling Butterflies, a ministry for homeless children, and Inspirations by A & A Photography, who sponsored that portion of the event. Larsen & Associates, P.L., Yoga East Orlando, Avalon All-Star Cuts, and Holy Rollerz also sponsored the event.

"This game gets bigger every year," said Mark King, Owner of the Florida Flight. "It's nice to get the win, but it's really about collecting toys for the kids. We just want to continue utilizing the platform of professional basketball to invest in the lives of others here in our community!"

Four players finished with double-doubles for the Flight. Adamson led all scorers with a game high 32 points, coupled with 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Baker added 22 points and 16 rebounds, followed by Corey Williams, who contributed 20 points, 14 rebounds and 3 steals. Flight veteran Garvin Gordon finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Germer Kinsey led the way for the Titans with 24 points. Graham Russ followed with 15 points off of 5 three pointers.

Both teams are preparing for their second season in the recently formed Florida Basketball Association. The regular season is slated to begin in April of 2013. Pre-season games will start in February.

The Florida Flight is a member team of the Florida Basketball Association.
