Force's Troy Bergeron named AFL Offensive Player of the Week

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, May 31, 2005 – The Arena Football League announced today that Georgia Force offensive specialist Troy Bergeron was named the League's Offensive Player of the Week. This is the first weekly League award that Bergeron has earned. Last week, he was selected to the 2005 All-Rookie Team and earlier this year Bergeron named Rookie of the Month for February.

BERGERON (6-2, 190, Middle Tennessee State), the AFL's youngest player at 21, helped lead the Force to a 62-46 Divisional Round victory over the Tampa Bay Storm. Bergeron led the team with eight receptions for 85 yards and three touchdown receptions. On special teams, he returned two kickoffs for 35 yards and returned two missed field goals for 67 yards, including a 56-yard return for a touchdown.

The Georgia Force (12-5) play host to the National Conference Championship Game against the Orlando Predators (11-6) on Saturday, June 4th at 3 pm in Philips Arena. The winner will earn a berth to ArenaBowl XIX on Sunday, June 12th in Las Vegas.
