Cleveland Force News Release


The 2003-04 season will mark the 25th season of Indoor Soccer in Cleveland. During the 25 seasons, Cleveland fans witnessed the Force and Crunch combine for 565 victories while the Crunch recorded three National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) Championships. Cleveland fans were also responsible for setting an indoor soccer attendance record of 20,176 during the 1985-86 season.

FORCE STREAKS

Cleveland defender Hector Marinaro will look to continue his scoring streak this week when he returns to the lineup after playing in just 15 games last season. Marinaro has scored at least a point in 57 straight games and 86 of the last 87 games. He has also tallied a point in 195 of the last 198 games.

NEW LOOK:

The Force will enter the 2003-04 season with only 10 players returning from a team that advanced to the MISL Eastern Conference Quarter-finals a year ago. John Ball, Braeden Cloutier, Lee Edgerton, Justin Evans, Zoran Karic, Jim Larkin, Hector Marinaro Otto Orf, Nevio Pizzolitto, Myles Stoddard all return to bring veteran leadership to a group of eight newcomers with little or no MISL action.

Defender Nick Corneli, forward Ato Leone and defender Josh Timbers headline the group of newcomers. Corneli, Leone and Timbers were all acquired in off-season trades and have all seen action in the MISL while Nick and Ato have each been selected as All-Stars. Joel Bailey, Adam Campellone, Fred DeGand, Adam Guren and Adauto Neto all will be making their MISL debuts this season.

HOME SWEET HOME:

Cleveland will begin the 2003-04 season on the road as the team plays its first three games in Dallas, San Diego and Milwaukee. The Force will return to the friendly confines of the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University on Saturday, November 1 for the team's Home Opener. Cleveland was an impressive 13-5 last season at the Convo.

In addition, the first home game is Magnet Schedule Night sponsored by Holland Oil. All Fans attending the game will receive a free magnet schedule.

Directions to the Force Fitness Indoor Soccer Facility in Warrensville Heights: The facility is located across from Thistledown Race Track on Northfield Road.

>From the West: Take Route 480 East to Northfield Road Exit and take a left on Northfield. The soccer center will be a mile and half down on your right-hand side.

>From the East: Take 480 West to the Miles Road Exit and take a right onto Miles. Proceed to Northfield Road and take a right; the practice center will be a mile down on the right.

FORCE RADIO NETWORK:

Cleveland Force fans will be able to follow the club all season long on the Force Radio Network. All thirty-six regular season games, as well as all playoff games will be aired. The flagship station for Force soccer is Sports Talk 850 AM WKNR. Any preempted broadcasts will be covered by sister station WHK 1220 AM.
