Force Signs Former Two-Time All-American McFarland

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH., OCTOBER 23, 2002_ The Grand Rapids Force today announced the signing of opposite hitter Sarah McFarland.

The 6-foot-6 inch McFarland (Michigan City, Ind.., Loyola Marymount) was originally slated to play for the Force in 2002, but missed the entire season with a knee injury.

McFarland is a former two-time AVCA All-American who once tallied 52 kills in a single match at LMU, which tied her for the third highest single match total in Division I history. McFarland amassed over 2,000 career kills at LMU.

McFarland also takes over the distinction of being the tallest athlete in USPV history, surpassing current Chicago Thunder middle blocker Kelly Kennedy and Minnesota Chill middle blocker Wiz Bachman, who both are 6-4.

Grand Rapids begins training camp Thursday, December 12 and plays its first home match January 25 against defending USPV champion Minnesota.
