Force set to streak with Comets

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force is geared up for its second of nine home and road back-to-back weekend contests when the team takes on the Kansas City Comets on Friday, February 11 at the Wolstein Convocation Center. The Force will then hit the road on Saturday, February 12 when they will travel to Kansas City, Missouri to play the Comets in the second game of the home and home weekend series.

Both games can be heard live on WHK 1420 AM or 1440 AM in Warren/Youngstown or live worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 7:35 while Saturday's contest will start at 8:35 Eastern Standard Time.

The games will mark the third and fourth meetings of the season between the Force and Kansas City as well as the first meeting in Kemper Arena. The Comets won the first meeting by a final score of 8-7 in a come from behind victory in overtime while Cleveland avenged the first loss by positing a 9-2 victory over Kansas City. The Force held the Comets scoreless for 51 minutes last Friday before surrendering a goal in the fourth quarter,

Cleveland enters the contests with a record of 8-11 overall, 5-5 at home and 3-6 on the road. The Force split a pair of games last weekend by posting an impressive 9-2 victory over Kansas City on Friday night but then fell to the Philadelphia KiXX in a hard fought double overtime game 7-6 on Saturday night. Cleveland currently sits in seventh place in the MISL standings 4.5 games behind the KIXX in first place and 1.5 games behind the Baltimore Blast for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Kansas City, who plays on Wednesday morning versus Philadelphia, has lost its last three contests and sits with a record of 8-10 overall, 4-3 at home and 4-7 on the road. The Comets currently is in sixth place in the standings a half game ahead of the Force and four games behind the KIXX for first and one game behind the Blast for fourth.

Defender Rene Rivas leads Cleveland with five points consisting of one goal and four assists in the season series. Midfielder Gary DePalma is in second on the team with four points on two goals and two assists in the two games.

The Comets are led by forward Dino Delevski in the season series with three points, all of which are goals. Kansas City has four players tied for second place with two points in the season series consisting of midfielder Jonny Steel on two goals and midfielders Casey Stevens and Justin Evans as well as defender Vlatko Andonovski with one goal and one assist each.
