
Force Re-Signs Former Michigan State Star Sterk

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH., OCTOBER 18, 2002_ The Grand Rapids Force, a member of United States Professional Volleyball (USPV), today announced the re-signing of middle blocker Val Sterk (Byron Center, Mich., Michigan State).
Sterk tied for the team lead in scoring last year (2.7 points per game) and also averaged 2.2 kills and 0.4 blocks per game. Sterk also hit at a .397 clip during the postseason as Grand Rapids took eventual USPV champion Minnesota to three matches in the opening round of the playoffs.
Sterk was a two-time collegiate All-American at Michigan State and is the only player in MSU program history to be named an All-American twice and an All-Big Ten Conference performer three times.
Training camp for the Force begins Thursday, December 12. The Force plays its first home match on January 25 at the DeltaPlex.
