CLEVELAND, OHIO- The Cleveland Force will stay home at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University this weekend to play host to a Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Eastern Conference match. This Saturday's contest, which is set to begin at 7:05pm, against the Baltimore Blast will be the third game of a five game home stand.
The Cleveland Force and the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland will team up this weekend to host "Diversity Night". Proceeds from this event will benefit the Aids Taskforce of the Greater Cleveland area.
The game between the Force and Blast will mark the fourth of six meetings this season. The Blast leads the series 2-1 with their two wins coming at 1st Mariner Arena including its most recent victory January 4th by a 15-6 margin. Cleveland enters the contest after hosting three Western Conference matches. On Friday January 31 the Force played the San Diego Sockers and defeated them 15-10. Then on Sunday the Force invited the Kansas City Comets into the Convo and lost in a tough match, which went to the last buzzer, losing by the final 16-14. Then on Wednesday, the Force played its annual school day game and fell to the Milwaukee Wave 10-8 in overtime. That was the first overtime game for the Force; while the Wave has done battle in four overtimes this year and have been successful in everyone.
The Blast is coming into this weekend's game after splitting a pair. On Friday, January 31 the Blast played host to conference leader and rival Philadelphia Kixx and defeated them by the score of 7-2. Coming off that huge win, the Blast looked to improve their overall record by hosting Western conference leader Milwaukee Wave. This time they weren't as fortunate as the Wave came into the 1st Mariner Arena and beat the Blast by the score of 16-14.Within the conference the Blast trail the Kixx by 9.5 games for first place and the Force by 2 for second.
