Force heading back to playoffs
April 1, 2004 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Cleveland Force News Release
CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force will be heading back to the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Playoffs for the second straight season and the third time in the last six seasons. Cleveland officially secured a playoff spot when the St. Louis Steamers fell to the Monterrey Fury at the Monterrey Arena last night.
The Force returned to the playoffs last season after not qualifying the previous two years and was defeated by the eventual MISL Champion Baltimore Blast in the MISL Eastern Conference Semi-Final at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.
Cleveland has secured the sixth position but still has a shot at moving up to the fifth slot if they win their final two road games or by winning one of the final two contests coupled with a loss by the Kansas City Comets in their final game on Saturday night. With this scenario, the Force and Comets would end the regular season tied for the fifth position but Cleveland would capture the slot due to winning the season series 3-1 over Kansas City.
In the sixth position, the Force would travel to Dallas, Texas to take on the Western Division Champion and third seed Dallas Sidekicks on Saturday, April 10 in the MISL Quarterfinals at Reunion Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. Cleveland won the season series over the Sidekicks 3-1, including posting a 1-1 record at Reunion.
In the fifth position, the Force would head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to take on Eastern Division foe and the fourth seed Philadelphia KiXX on April 10 in the MISL Quarterfinals at Wachovia Spectrum. The game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. Philadelphia holds the season series 4-1 with the final regular season meeting to be played on Saturday, April 3 at the Wachovia Spectrum.
All the playoff action can be heard live on WHK 1220 AM in Cleveland and WHKW 1440 AM in Warren or worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com.
