
Force forward earns first MISL weekly honor

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Cleveland Force forward Adauto Neto was selected as the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL Offensive Player of the for the seven-day period ending April 10. Cleveland has now received a Player of the Week selection in four of the last six weeks and 12 times throughout the season.
Neto garners his first career MISL Offensive Player of the Week honor after recording five points in two Force victories last weekend. The 24-year old native of Itabuna, Brazil tallied tow goals, including the game-winner in a 7-2 victory over the Chicago Storm on Friday night that secured Cleveland's 2005 post-season berth. Adauto closed out the weekend with a two-goal and one assist performance in an 8-7 overtime victory over the first-place Milwaukee Wave. Neto, a 2004 MISL All-Rookie selection, has scored 10 points (eight goals, two assists) over his last five games, and has now registered 29 points (18 goals, 11 assists) in 23 contests this season.
Adauto joins forward and team captain John Ball, defender Neil Gilbert, defender Matt Johnson, goalkeeper Jim Larkin, defender Genoni Martinez and forward Aaron Susi as the other Force players honored by the MISL this season. Ball has been named Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions while Gilbert was named Defensive Player of the Week on April 11. Johnson garnered the Defensive Player of the Week on February 7 and Larkin has been tabbed as Goalkeeper of the Week on four occasions. Martinez has been honored as Defensive Player of the Week twice while Susi took home Offensive Player of the Week on April 11.
The Force will close out the 2004 -05 regular season this weekend with a game with the Baltimore Blast on Friday, April 22 at the 1st mariner Arena. Cleveland will finish the season at home on Saturday, April 23 versus Milwaukee at the Wolstein Center. The games can be heard live on WHK 1420 AM in Cleveland as well as 1440 AM WHKW in Warren/Youngstown or worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com starting at 7:35 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. respectively.
