
Force Falls To Fury In First Meeting

CLEVELAND, OHIO. - The Cleveland Force was defeated by the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Western Division Monterrey Fury tonight by a final score of 7-3 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.
With the loss, the Force dropped their third straight game and fell to 3-4 overall and 2-1 versus MISL Western Division opponents. With the victory, Monterrey improved to 2-4 overall, 1-1 versus MISL Eastern Division opponents and 2-5 on the road.
The Fury opened the scoring fast (0-1) when defender Genoni Martinez found the back of the net for an unassisted goal just 10 seconds into the game.
Monterrey opened the second quarter scoring (0-2) when Martinez scored his second goal of the game on a penalty kick at 2:36. Cleveland cut into the lead (1-2) and scored its first goal of the game when Ato Leone found the back of the net off the pass from Zoran Karic at 12:44.
The Force tied the game (2-2) and opened the second half scoring when Lee Edgerton scored the goal off the pass from Nevio Pizzolitto at 1:14 of the third quarter. Cleveland took its first lead of the game (3-2) when Edgerton scored his second goal of the game off the assist from Nick Corneli at 9:35. The Fury notched the game back up (3-3) when Ramon Fernandez scored the restart goal off the assist from Martinez at 10:22. Monterrey regained the lead (3-4) when Fernandez scored a power play goal off the pass from Martinez at 14:46.
The Fury added to their lead (3-5) when Marco "Chikis" Lopez scored a restart goal of the third assist of the game and fifth point for Martinez at 2:46 of the fourth quarter. Monterrey added to its (3-6) when Armando Valdivia scored a goal against the Force sixth attacker at 12:33. The Fury sealed the game (3-7) when Lopez scored his second goal of the game off a pass from Valdivia at 13:54.
