Force Falls To Balitmore

BALTIMORE, MD. – The Cleveland Force traveled to Baltimore, Maryland and was defeated by the Baltimore Blast, 15-6, tonight in a Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Eastern Conference game at the newly named 1st Mariner Arena.

With the loss, Cleveland fell to 9-8 overall, 3-5 versus Eastern Conference opponents and 4-7 on the road. With the win, Baltimore improved to 6-12 overall, 2-1 in the season series and 4-5 at home.

Baltimore opened up the scoring just 34 seconds into the game (0-2) when Danny Kelly scored a two-point goal off a pass from Tarik Walker. The Blast added to its early lead (0-4) when Giuliano Celenza scored a two-point goal off the feed from Walker at 5:04 of the first period. Baltimore added another goal (0-6) when Craig Scheer scored his first goal off the season of the assist from Jason Dieter at 12:23. The Blast continued the scoring streak (0-8) when Billy Nelson scored a restart two-point goal off the cross from Kelly at 12:41.

The Force got on the board and ended an 8-0 run by Baltimore (2-8) when D.J. Newsom scored his second goal of the season at 3:28 of the second quarter. The Blast responded (2-10) when Walker scored a two-point power play goal off the assist from Celenza at 11:17.

Cleveland cut into the lead (4-10) when Giuliano Oliviero scored a two-point goal off the assist from Hector Marinaro. With the assist, Marinaro extended his scoring streak to 55 straight games with at least a point. Baltimore responded (4-12) when Andy Wells scored a two-point goal off the second assist of the game for Kelly at 11:57 of the third quarter.

The Force cut the lead in half (6-12) when defender Nevio Pizzolitto scored a two-point goal from a pass from sixth attacker John Ball at 12:39 of the final period. The Blast scored a three-point goal (6-15) when P.J. Wakefield scored against the sixth attacker from the feed of Nelson at 13:26.

Cleveland will next play host to Eastern Conference foe Harrisburg Heat on Friday, January 10th in at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University. The game is also Otto Orf Bobble head Night in which the first 2,5000 fans 14 and under receive a bobble head.
