
Force Defender Makes A-League Team Of The Week

CLEVELAND, OHIO-Toronto Lynx midfielder Joe Mattacchione earned a spot on the A-League Team of the Week for the week ending June 1st. Mattacchione recorded a game-winning goal in a Lynx 1-0 victory over the Virginia Beach Mariners on May 26th followed by an assist to Brian Ashton in a 1-1 draw to the Charlotte Eagles on May 29th.
The Lynx are trying to make a move in their divisional standing and obtain Voyageurs Cup and Can-Am Cup points. They will try to secure these valuable points by continuing their improved play in a match against the Montreal Impact on Sunday, June 8th at 4:00 PM.
Mattacchione has played the last four seasons with the Lynx and has recorded six goals, with his personal best being three goals in 2001. In 2002, he was named the Lynx defensive MVP.
This past indoor season, Mattacchione played in 31 of 36 games for the Force where he scored two goals, one being the first two-point goal of his career. In addition he tallied 46 blocks on defense.
The 27-year old defender from Mississauga, Canada played four years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) where he was named First-Team All-Conference three years.
