
Force Defeats Dallas For First Win Of The Season

DALLAS, TEXAS. - The Cleveland Force opened its Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) season by defeating the MISL Western Conference Dallas Sidekicks 6-5 tonight at Reunion Arena.
With the victory, the Force is now 1-0 and was the last MISL team to start their season. With the loss, Dallas falls to 1-2 overall.
Cleveland opened the scoring (1-0) when Justin Evans scored a restart goal off the pass from Hector Marinaro at 5:23 of the first quarter. With the assist, Marinaro has now scored at least a point in 58 straight games. The Sidekicks tied the game (1-1) when Martin Nash, the younger brother of Dallas Mavericks point guard Steve Nash, scored the power play goal off the assist from David Doyle at 12:05. Dallas took its first lead of the game (1-2) when Doyle scored a long-range goal off the pass from Frank Filo at 12:59.
The Sidekicks added to their lead just 41 seconds into the second quarter (1-3) when Nick Stavrou found the back of the net off the pass from Martin Dugas. Dallas kept up the scoring attack (1-4) when Dugas scored a power play goal off the assist from Ricardinho at 7:52. The Force cut into the lead and snapped a four goal-scoring streak by the Sidekicks (2-4) when John Ball stole the ball at midfield and scored an unassisted goal at 14:26.
Cleveland cut the lead to just one goal (3-4) when Ato Leone scored the goal off the pass from Adauto Neto at 1:58. Neto dribbled through three Dallas players and found Leone all alone for the goal. The Force tied the game (4-4) when Neto dribbled past Sagu the Dallas goalkeeper for the tying goal off the cross from Leone at 6:29. Cleveland regained the lead (5-4) when Lee Edgerton volleyed the pass from Neto into the back of the net at 8:43.
The Sidekicks snapped a four-goal streak by the Force and tied the game (5-5) when Beau Brown found the back of the net off the pass from Dugas at 7:04 of the final period. The Force regained the lead (6-5) when Edgerton scored his second goal of the game on a spinning shot at 11:13 of the final stanza.
Cleveland will next travel to San Diego, California to take on the MISL Western Conference San Diego Sockers at the San Diego Sports Arena on Friday, October 24. The game is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. and can be heard live on Sports Talk 850 WKNR.
