Comets Offense Erupts in 10-6 Win

Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Comets received hat tricks from Dino Delevski and Brian Soell and Miodrag Djerisilo recorded four assists as the team defeated the Monterrey Fury by the score of 10-6 in front of 5,249 fans at Kemper Arena on Saturday night. With the win, Comets head coach Zoran Savic becomes the second man in League history and the 10th in indoor soccer history to reach 200 regular season wins for his career.

The Fury controlled the bulk of the early play, beginning with Armando Valdivia's goal just 22 seconds into the contest. At 5:03, Delevski notched his first score of the season to tie it at 1-1, but Ramon Fernandez's goal at 6:55 put Monterrey back on top. However, Jeff Davis (13:01) and Delevski (14:17) scored for the Comets before the first was out, and Kansas City led 3-2 after one.

Wes Wade (1:07) and the Fury's Octavio Perez (7:43) traded second-quarter goals, and the Comets held a 4-3 advantage at the half.

Kansas City took firm hold of the game's momentum in the third, when goals from Delevski (4:20) and Jamar Beasley (11:57) gave the Comets a 6-3 lead after three quarters. Brian Soell's first goal of the night, at 1:26 of the fourth, extended that edge to 7-3; the goal served as the eventual game-winner.

Genoni Martinez (2:19) and Victor Quiroz (7:16) sandwiched goals around Soell's second tally at 3:09, and the score was 8-5, Comets, heading into down the stretch. Matt Tanzini's first goal in a Comets uniform, at 9:35, put the hosts up 9-5, and at 11:21 Soell completed his hat trick at 11:21 to make it 10-5 and give Kansas City some breathing room. Octavio Perez completed the night's scoring with a late sixth-attacker goal (12:45) to seal the final 10-6 score.

DJ Horvath recorded his first win as a Comet with 11 saves on 17 shots. Christian Guemez saved 14 of 24 shots in net for Monterrey, taking the loss.

Notes: Kansas City's 10 goals were the most scored in an MISL game so far this season...The Comets' Miodrag Djerisilo finished the game with four assists, a personal career high...Kansas City defender Jeff Davis blocked eight shots...Monterrey accrued 22 penalty minutes in the game...Midfielder Ryan DiNunzio, signed by the Comets on Thursday, made his debut and recorded an assist...The Comets now embark on a four-game road swing, beginning next Saturday, October 25 in St. Louis against the Steamers.
