Force Crush Voodoo to Cap Regular Season, 68-42

ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Force (14-2) defeated the New Orleans VooDoo (5-11), 68-42, in front of 11,123 fans at Philips Arena. During the contest the Force set numerous AFL single-season records including, points scored in a season (1,007), yards in a season (5,175) while becoming the first team to score 60+ points in 10 games. The victory also allowed Georgia to be the first team to finish with a perfect 8-0 record against Southern Division opponents. QB Chris Greisen continued his record breaking season by completing 17 of 27 passes for 183 yards and six touchdowns in the win. His six touchdowns gives him an AFL all-time high of 117 on the season. The Force will return to action on Sunday, July 8 at 7 p.m., when they play host to a Divisional Round playoff game, at Philips Arena, on ESPN2.

The Force defense owned the first quarter as they created a turnover and a stop on downs to lead Georgia to a 7-0 lead after one. On the first play from scrimmage, DL Mike Sutton deflected a QB Steve Bellisari pass and LB Eric Johnson recorded his first interception of his career. The Force offense failed to score after the turnover as the VooDoo defense held on fourth and goal from the five-yard line. New Orleans drove the length of the field, but was stopped by the Force defense at the five-yard line on fourth down. Georgia capitalized on the stop with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Greisen to WR Chris Jackson for the only points of the quarter.

The action picked-up in the second quarter as the team's combined to score 56 points. Georgia outscored New Orleans 33-21 in the quarter and led the VooDoo 40-21 at the half. Following a quick score by New Orleans, WR Troy Bergeron returned the ensuing kickoff 56 yards for a score. The Force defense managed to score points when DL Ernest Allen sacked Bellisari in the back of the endzone for a safety. Georgia's other scores came on touchdown catches by Jackson and Bergeron in addition to a one-yard rush by FB John Ritcher. The VooDoo produced points on rushes by WR Kenny Henderson and FB James Lynch in addition to a touchdown pass to WR Tyronne Jones.

Georgia continued to lead after three quarters, 54-28 over New Orleans. Greisen added two touchdown passes in the quarter, one to WR Carl Morris and one to Jackson. Force DB Hamin Milligan recorded his fourth interception of the season when Bellisari was flushed from the pocket and attempted to throw the ball across the field to his receiver.

The two teams traded scores in the final quarter as the Force defeated the VooDoo 68-42. Rookie QB James MacPherson entered the contest mid-way through the fourth and threw his first career AFL touchdown pass to Morris.
