GRAND RAPIDS - Next season, Rampage fans will see arguably the team's biggest breakout player of 2007, as Grand Rapids re-signed wide receiver/linebacker Jerome Riley (Los Angeles, Calif.) to a two-year contract. The four-year (2004-07) Arena Football League veteran set career numbers in several offensive and defensive categories despite missing four games due to injury.

Riley emerged as one of the AFL's top two-way threats in 2007, logging career highs in receptions (78), receiving yards (845), tackles (31.5), interceptions (4) and points (96). He was named Ironman of the Game five times in just 12 appearances, having missed four games with an injury midway through the season.

"Jerome Riley epitomizes exactly what we're looking for both on and off the field," said General Manager Scott Woodruff. "Our negotiations included discussions on winning and doing what it takes to get this team into the playoffs."

In 2006, Riley also played in 12 games for Grand Rapids, making 11 receptions for 100 yards and three touchdowns. He also recorded 26 stops, forced one fumble and recovered two others. Given the opportunity to shine in 2007, however, Riley exploded and became known for making big plays. His four defensive scores, including two interception returns and two fumble recoveries, showcased his two-way ability.

Riley was also named the Rampage Player of the Year during the 2007 West Michigan Sports Awards last May.

"This is a great situation for me," said Riley. "I've been here in Grand Rapids for two years, and I'm excited to stick around and help out this organization."

A Washington State University product, Riley also spent two seasons (2004-05) with the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers. He also participated in training camp with the NFL's Tennessee Titans in 2002 following his senior season with the Cougars.
