Force continues road swing this weekend

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force will continue its road trip as well as play its first game this season in Baltimore, Maryland when the team will take on the two-time defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Baltimore Blast on Saturday, January 29 at the 1st Mariner Arena.

The action can be heard live on WHK 1420 AM or 1440 AM in Warren/Youngstown or live worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:35.

The Force trails the Blast in the season series 0-2 by dropping two home contests on December 4 by a final score of 11-7 and on January 16 by a final score of 8-6. Cleveland has dropped nine consecutive games, including the playoffs to the Baltimore and seven straight games at the 1st Mariner Arena. The last time Force posted a victory over the Blast was on March 16, 2003 by a final score of 4-2 (multi-point scoring) and the last time Cleveland won at the 1st Mariner Arena was on April 13, 2002 when the Crunch defeated Baltimore by a final score of 14-12 (multi-point scoring).

The Force enters the contest with a record of 7-9 overall and 3-4 on the road this season. Cleveland defeated the Milwaukee Wave by a final score of 4-3 in overtime last Saturday. The Force currently is in sixth place in the MISL standings trailing the Philadelphia KiXX and the St. Louis Steamers in first place by 3.5 games and trails the Kansas City Comets by one game for the fourth and final playoff spot.

The Blast comes into the game with a record of 9-10 overall and 6-5 at home. Baltimore fell to the KiXX last Friday by a final score 9-4 at 1st Mariner Arena. The Blast currently sits in fifth place in the MISL standings a half game behind the Comets and a half game ahead of Cleveland.

The Force is led by forward Adauto Neto in the season series with four points on a goal and three assists. Forward Joel Bailey and defender and team captain John Ball are tied for second with three points apiece. Bailey has recorded three goals while Ball has two goals and one assist.

Baltimore is lead by forward and MISL leading scorer Carlos "Chile" Farias in the series with eight points on four goals and four assists. Forward David Bascome comes in second in the series with five points on three goals and two assists.
