St. Louis Steamers News Release


Upcoming Games:

On Friday January 28th at 7:35 p.m. the Steamers will start their 3 game road trip playing the Chicago Storm. When the teams played last time at Savvis, the game ended in a fight resulting in 6 red cards and a total of 8 game suspensions between the 2 teams. The Steamers prevailed 7-6 on a goal with under a minute by Aaron Susi.

On Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th the Steamers will face the Philadelphia Kixx. After the snow storm canceling the Steamers game last Saturday, the game has been rescheduled for Sunday the 30th at 4:05 pm. The game Saturday will be shown on WB 11 at 6:05 pm. Tune in to KFNS 590 and listen to Friday and Sunday's games and cheer on the Steamers to 3 consecutive wins!

Schedule Change:

Family Appreciation night scheduled for February 12th will be played on March 25th. Game time will be at 7:35 pm. The St. Louis Steamers players and staff apologize for any inconvenience.

Player Profile - Brett Phillips:

Prior to his season with the Steamers, Phillips started 15 games and played a key role in the Baltimore Blast's 2002-03 MISL championship season. Now with the Steamers, Phillips has 8 wins and 5 losses. He has played in 13 games and has started in 12 of the 13. Phillips currently has had 204 shots against and has saved 151. Earlier this season Phillips was picked for the MISL Goalkeeper of the Week. He is second in the league in GAA and save percentage.

Halftime Promotions:

The Steamers will also feature the "Scion Ball Toss!" Mini soccer balls will be sold on the Concourse for one dollar, or six for five dollars. Prizes include tickets to Weherenburg Theatres and a grand prize of $200, sponsored by TheCoolStop.com.

Current Appearances:

The players received their specialize training this week in preparation for the school day game and the Tobacco Free Assemblies given by the St. Louis Steamers. The players will be visiting a number of both Missouri and Illinois schools starting the end of January.

Upcoming Appearances:

Wednesday January 26th the Steamers Joe Reiniger and Mike Apple will be making a stop at Marine Elementary School at 2:15 to give a Tobacco Free Assembly.

On Thursday January 27 the Steamers have 2 different appearances. The first is at Crossroad Elementary School in Wentzville, MO for the school's 3rd annual Abilities Awareness Week. Steamers players Sterling Wescott and D.J. Newsom will be there at 11:00 am and 1:15 pm to talk to the students and participate in soccer activities with the students.

The second stop for the Steamers will be at St. Jacob Elementary School in St. Jacob, IL for another Tobacco Free Assembly with Joe Reiniger and Justin McMillian. The players will hold a double assembly scheduled for 1:30 and 2:15 pm.
