Football team supports non-profit organizations
April 18, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Lakeland ThunderBolts News Release
LAKELAND, FL â The Lakeland ThunderBolts have begun the distribution of the Dasher-Smasher Bingo cards, which offers support to local schools and non-profit organizations.
The ThunderBolts will be administering the NIFL's patented "Sports for Education" program that provides a 100% profit fundraiser for schools and non-profit organizations. The program matches, dollar for dollar, what partners spend with the football teams in the form of a "Dasher-Smasher Bingo" card. The cards are donated to schools or non-profit organizations, which sell them for $1 each, providing a 100% profit fund raising opportunity.
The ThunderBolts' cards include in excess of $150 worth of coupons from the businesses of our local and corporate partners. As if the value of the card isn't enough, the cards are also used during the games in the form of a bingo game, where various prizes can be won.
Sponsors receive an "Act of Donation" receipt for their support of both the football franchise and the charitable organization. League-wide last season, the NIFL and its member teams raised over 18 million dollars for schools and non-profit organizations. That number will increase this season with the addition of five NIFL expansion franchises.
"This is a completely unique program," said Lakeland ThunderBolts owner, Del Martin. "We're here to be a benefit to our cities, not just on the field, but in the community as well. With the help of our partners, we're going to make a significant contribution to the people who need it most."
If you are interested in being a sponsor or if your charity qualifies under 501C3 and you require help in funding, please call (863) 687-8110.
