Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

Fargo (ND) The Fargo-Moorhead Jets will be wearing special green St. Patrick's Day-themed jerseys this Friday March 17 when they take on the Southern Minnesota Express at 7pm at the Carlson Coliseum. Following the game, there will be a live auction in which fans can bid on their favorite player's uniform with a portion of the proceeds being earmarked for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

This is the second straight season the FM Jets have worn specialty St. Patrick's Day jerseys as a way of supporting the MDA and its yearly shamrock fundraising program.

Last season, jerseys averaged roughly $350 per player and the team raised over $6,000. This season the FM Jets are optimistic that the jersey auction could bring in more than $10,000.

"We have the franchise's all-time leading scorer (Phil Fox), a three-year veteran whose been a fan favorite (Bob Preece) and a possible NHL draft pick (Kai Kantola) just to name a few so we should have some fun bidding wars" said general manager Randy Nielsen.

The jerseys have been modified from last year but continue to work off a base of green and black. The front of the jersey features a re-designed FM Jets logo that has the usual fighter plane coming out from a Shamrock.

The waist of the jersey is designed in flannel pattern and with a yellow strip. Each jersey also features player's numbers and names.

Along with the special jerseys, Friday's game is flat out the FM Jets' most important of the regular season. The FM Jets lead Southern Minnesota by two points for first place in the North American Hockey League Central Division with three games remaining.

After this game, the FM Jets play twice in Bismarck next weekend to end the regular season.

The FM Jets are the 2005 Borne Cup Champions and are in their third season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 30th year of operation.

Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcasted on Today's Hot New Country 103.9 "The Truck" and fmjets.com.
