Flying Aces Can't Weather Storm

Central Illinois Flying Aces News Release
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Central Illinois Flying Aces fall, 3 to 1, against the league-leading Tri-City Storm in the second game of a two game series.
The first period was scoreless for both teams despite both teams having opportunities on the power play.
Midway through the second period, the two teams exchanged offsetting penalties. Tri-City earned a further power play to make it a 4 on 3 situation. Ronnie Attard struck first for the Storm with a blast from the point as the goaltender was screened at 8:28 in the second.
Ryan Snowden (Kennett Square, Penn.) was solid all net for Central Illinois including during a second 4 on 3 opportunity during the second period.
The Aces tied the game at 11:21 with a goal from Philippe Lapointe (Burr Ridge, Ill.). To start the play, Tyler Gratton (Pottstown, Penn.) rimmed the puck around the back of the net to Colby Enns (Minot, N.D.). Enns grabbed the puck as he drove down the right wall and passed across the slot to Lapointe wide open on the backdoor.
Thirty-six seconds later the Storm broke the tie with a goal from Connor McMenamin when McMenamin deflected a shot from the point. McMenamin picked up his second of the night at 19:45 when he scored in the empty net for a final score of 3 to 1.
Snowden stopped 29 of 31 shots he faced throughout the night.

The Flying Aces will host the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Thursday, Feb. 21st for Education Day before traveling to Green Bay for a two-game series against the Gamblers on March 2nd and 3rd.
