Fort Worth Flyers News Release

FORT WORTH, Texas, November 14, 2006 - The Fort Worth Flyers will host local students for a Read to Achieve Day Celebration from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the team's official training facility, Nolan Catholic High School, located at 4501 Bridge Street in Fort Worth.

"We are excited to host these students for this event and help encourage their academic achievement," said Flyers team president Ken Nicholson. "Community involvement is an important part of our team, and this event is a great way to get our players involved as we start the season."

Held as part of the Read to Achieve program, which serves as the community relations centerpiece and the primary educational program of the Fort Worth Flyers, the celebration will include various educational and basketball activities for the students led by Flyers players and coaching staff members. In addition, the students will have the opportunity to watch the Flyers practice session during the morning workout.

A league-wide initiative among the NBA, WNBA and D-League, Read to Achieve focuses on helping youth establish a love for reading and gain an understanding of the value and importance of literacy.

As part of the program, the Flyers hold a Welcome Back to School celebration each year to help encourage students to achieve academic excellence. Throughout the year, the Flyers All-Star Reading Team holds Reading Timeouts at schools, community centers, libraries and other such locations.

The Fort Worth Flyers home opener is Friday, December 1 against the Bakersfield Jam at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The regular season tips off Saturday, November 25 against the Austin Toros in Austin, Texas.

Season tickets begin at $99, and flex book and group ticket packages are also available. For more information, log on to fwflyers.com or call (817) 698-8333.
