Orange County Flyers News Release
The Orange County Flyers received a strong emergency start from Jason Howerton and took down the Chico Outlaws 9-5 at Nettleton Stadium Monday.
Howerton was pushed into the start after SP Daniel Arizmendi could not pitch due to tightness in his forearm. Howerton pitched six innings and gave up three earned runs to record his second win.
The Flyers were helped by four errors, three by SS Jesse Kovacs, to score their nine runs all off Derrick Loop.
Orange County also received two long balls as part of their attack. Scott Goodman struck his fifth homerun at Nettleton Stadium this season and Buddy Morales hit his first in 2007.
The Flyers scored multiple runs in four different innings. A three-run rally in the 6th inning was capped by Bret Levier's two-run double.
The Flyers jumped to 17-15 in the second half and 36-34 overall.
Game two of the three game set will be Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. on KWRM 1370 AM and orangecountyflyers.com.
