Orange County Flyers News Release
The Flyers evened the series with a 5-4 win over the San Diego Surf Dawgs Wednesday night at Goodwin Field.
Down 4-0, the Flyers loaded the bases behind a Buddy Morales single, a Toshi Sasa walk and a Bret Levier single.
Garry Templeton II unloaded the bases with a triple to the left-center field gap. The relay throw to third sailed over Nick Guerra's head and Templeton came around to score the tying run.
Brent Porciau gave up all five runs in relief and was removed from the game when he fell behind the next hitter, Jesse Schmidt, 2-0. Schmidt walked and ended up scoring the winning run.
Hector Zamora's RBI groundball drove in Schmidt, who went three for three.
Craig Frydendall threw well in six innings of work. He gave up two earned runs on seven hits and did not receive a decision.
Jon Grijalva got the win by throwing two scoreless innings of relief. Wes Faust threw an impressive 9th inning to record his fifth save.
Chris Gale threw six shutout innings as the San Diego starter.
The rubber match will be at Goodwin Field on Thursday night.
Tommy Lasorda will throw out the first pitch at 7 pm.
