Flyers Outdueled
August 26, 2008 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release
The Long Beach Armada (23-16) stayed hot Tuesday night at Blair Field, which put them a step closer to clinching the last playoff spot in the GBL. The Armada held their slim first place lead by taking down the Orange County Flyers 5-1.
Despite featuring great stuff, Bob Cramer gave up five runs through seven innings to take the loss. He was outdueled by Andrew Layfield, who handled the Flyers over five innings.
Nick Cavanagh pitched two scoreless innings of relief to close the game out.
The Armada offense was an assortment of flairs, bloops and bleeders combined with some speed and clutch hitting.
The Flyers and Armada will continue their week long series with a doubleheader Thursday night at Goodwin Field.
