Orange County Flyers News Release

The Flyers finally caught up to first place Chico Thursday night with a 9-6 win in Long Beach and a 12-10 Outlaws defeat in Reno.

The Flyers jumped on Long Beach pitching early and often to explode for nine runs and hold on to win at Blair Field. The Flyers scored four runs in the top of the 1st inning when all nine batters came to the plate.

Peanut Williams drove in the first two runs with a base hit after Clemente Bonilla and Jesse Schmidt executed a double steal.

Trevor Hall and Bret Levier added RBI doubles in the inning off Ryan Claypool.

Up 5-0 in the 4th inning, Fullerton extended their lead to seven runs when Peanut drove in his 74th run of the season. Williams had four hits on the night.

The Flyers capitalized throughout the game on bad Armada defense. They committed four errors to help the road team's cause.

Jeff Larue was the main bright spot for the Armada. He homered twice, doubled off the wall twice and drove a fly ball to the wall in centerfield in his last at-bat. If the game were played at a more hitter-friendly park, he could have easily gone 5-5 with five homeruns.

Chris Jakubauskas battled through five innings to earn his eighth win of the season.

Wes Faust recorded his 10th save with a quick 9th inning.

Clemente Bonilla led off four different innings and started three of them with hits. He scored all three times.

The Flyers will go for the four-game sweep Friday night with Robert Mason on the mound.
