Schaumburg Flyers News Release
Schaumburg, IL - The Flyers took off for eight runs in the fifth inning, and with a great performance from starter Matt Elliott, were able to cruise to a 13-6 win over Winnipeg.
Things started out on a quick pace, as the Goldeyes struck first with one run in the first inning thanks to a RBI ground out from Juan Diaz. That would be all the offense Winnipeg would rack up until the ninth inning as Matt Elliott went six innings, allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts.
The Flyers bats were quiet at first, but woke up in the fifth inning with a total of eight hits and eight runs in the inning. Ron Bourquin led the Flyers with three RBI in the fifth thanks to his three-run homer to end the attack. Tommy Fitzgerald, Dylan Parzyk, Ruddy Yan, Kit Pellow and Mario Delgado each added singles and Joey Gomes added a RBI double.
The Flyers would score three more times in the bottom of the sixth with four straight hits to start up the hitting once again. Fitzgerald and Parzyk led off with singles, and Travis Brown drove them in with a two RBI double. Pellow would eventually drive in Brown to make the score 11-1 after six innings.
The Flyers would get two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal up the game. Winnipeg made an effort in the top of the ninth by scoring five runs on home runs by Justin Justice and Vince Harrison.
