Flyers General Manager Resigns

Orange County Flyers News Release

FULLERTON, CA: The Orange County Flyers announced Wednesday that their General Manager, Ed Hart, has resigned effective at the end of the 2007 season. Hart, who started with the Flyers on the same day that the team name and logo were announced in January 2005, did not specify his immediate plans.

"It is a bittersweet day for my family and me", Hart explained. "To be the General Manager of my home town team for the past three seasons has been a dream come true. There is no way that I can put into words the gratitude I have for the people that have changed my life, the joy I feel in thinking back over the great experiences I have had, and the pride I feel for taking a brand new product and turning it into the Fullerton, and eventually, Orange County Flyers.. I will cherish these three years more than any other in my professional career, to this point."

15 people that worked for Hart in the Flyers front office over the past 3 seasons have moved on to positions in major sports, from AAA baseball, to Major League Baseball, NHL, NFL, NBA, and Division 1 college athletics.

"I think my greatest satisfaction comes from knowing that many people were able to use their time with the Flyers as a step towards their dream job", Hart proudly said.

Hart, who has authored one published book, and is about to have his second book published, as well, will also continue his writing career.

The Flyers, who are considering the possibility of building a new stadium, are planning to have Hart on board in the discovery, planning, and possible implementation of the stadium project. Meanwhile, Hart is currently fielding offers in and outside the sports industry.

"This is a sad day for the Flyer's family," Flyers Owner and Team President Alan Mintz commented. "But we are happy for Ed and his family. Ed was one of the primary reasons we agreed to acquire the team. We made great strides this year, adding major sponsors, increasing attendance and improving the game day experience for every man, woman and child who attended our games. It has been an absolute joy working with Ed this past season. I may have lost an employee but I gained a great friend."

The Flyers are the only team in the Golden Baseball League to have only had one General Manager in their existence.
