Flyers Fight Back

The Flyers evened a three game series with the San Diego Surf Dawgs by taking a 7-2 decision Saturday. Fullerton jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a two-out rally in the 1st inning. Rich Pohle's clutch single drove home Jesse Schmidt with the first run.

The Flyers added two runs to take control in the 2nd inning when Hector Zamora led off with a single. Buddy Morales then reached on the first of 3B Victor Roldan's three errors.

Garry Templeton II and Bret Levier drove in both runs.

Chris Jakubauskas had to work out of jams in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings. He was helped by two big double plays and he stranded the bases loaded in the 2nd inning.

San Diego did scratch across a run in the 3rd inning when Adam Mandel led off with a single and Scott Goodman's groundout drove him home.

The Flyers put the game away in the 6th inning when Pohle and Trevor Hall started the frame with singles. Buddy Morales drove in two runs after Zamora's sacrifice bunt.

Templeton II then drove in Morales to put Fullerton up 6-1.

The Flyers added a seventh run on another Roldan error in the 9th inning.

Wes Faust retired all four batters he faced to get the save.

Todd Gelatka will try and take the rubber match for Fullerton Sunday at 5:05 pm.
