Orange County Flyers News Release

The starting pitching struggled for the Orange County Flyers, which spelled their demise in an 11-2 loss to the Long Beach Armada at Goodwin Field.

The Armada jumped on Flyers starting pitcher Jon Grijalva (0-2) early with a first inning 3 run home run by LF Chris Wakeland, his first of the season.

Grijalva only lasted 1.2 innings while giving up 6 earned runs on 6 hits and 2 walks. He was relieved by LHP Gary Gallegos to no success.

Gallegos (0-1) went on to pitch 1.1 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on the 2 hits, while hitting 2 batters.

LF Mark Okano continued his hot hitting for the season, breaking up the Armada RHP Ryan Claypool's (1-0) shutout in the bottom of the 6th with his team leading 15th hit of the season.

RHP Mike Natale (0-0) came to provide some much needed relief for the Flyers, pitching superbly for 4 shutout innings.

The action continues between the Orange County Flyers and their rival Long Beach Armada tomorrow at Blair Field in Long Beach before returning to Goodwin Field on Sunday afternoon to end the home, away, home series for the Flyers.
