Orange County Flyers News Release

The Orange County Flyers snapped a three-game losing streak by taking advantage of a mistake-prone Chico Outlaws club in a 10-4 victory at Nettleton Stadium.

The Flyers capitalized on walks and errors to build a five-run lead, but Chico brought the game to life with four runs in the bottom of the 6th inning behind back-to-back homeruns from Julian Benavidez and Lino Garcia.

Orange County put the game away after another error in the 7th inning set the stage for a five-run rally. Jermy Acey slammed his third homerun of the season, a two-run shot. Pat Breen also contributed with three RBIs including a run-scoring double and triple.

Andre Simpson (3-0) became the first three-game winner in the GBL in 2008 behind six mostly dominant innings. Simpson retired 13 consecutive hitters, but gave up four runs with two outs in the 6th inning.

Michael Rocco made his Flyers debut with two shutout innings of relief and Eric Sheridan capped the night with a perfect 9th inning.

Orange County (5-3) will look to keep piling it on Chico (1-7) on Tuesday night when Matthew Merricks takes the mound for the Flyers.
