Florida Firecats News Release

The arenafootball2 Spokane Shock improved to 7-0 with a 49-38 victory over the 3-5 Florida Firecats. It was a sloppy turnover laden affair that saw three interceptions thrown and four fumbles given away at Germain Arena.

After trailing 21-12 at halftime, the Firecats scored on three straight possessions between the 3rd and 4th quarters to make it a 35-32 game with eight minutes left. The Shock would score on their next possession and force a second interception in the games final minutes. The teams then traded scores with the Shock eventually winning by 11.

Spokane got the action going on the games opening play recovering a muffed kickoff at the Firecats' 10-yard line. Receiver Andy Olson scored his first touchdown of the game, on the ground, three plays later. Olson finished the night leading all receivers with 11 receptions for 151 yards.

Magic Benton provided a spark off of the bench for Florida snagging ten passes for 136 yards and three scores. In the end Spokane made the most of their scoring opportunities converting on five of seven trips into the red zone. Florida converted four of seven trips inside the ten yard line.

The Firecats travel to Lexington to battle the Horsemen next week. The Shock return home to host the Central Valley Coyotes.
