(Orlando, FL) - Effective immediately, the Florida Flight have promoted Rebekah Day to the position of Director of Game Day Operations.
Day, a current student at Southeastern University, came on board with the Flight during the 2010 season as an intern, where she gained experience assisting with different aspects of the game day table.
"Rebekah was someone I turned to last season when I needed something done," said Rabon Smith, General Manager for the Flight. "She proved her ability to rise to challenges, multi-task and handle the many different aspects of the game day operation process."
Day will fill the vacancy left by Smith, who was promoted to General Manager last month.
"Our mission is to utilize the platform of professional basketball to invest in the lives of others," said Mark
King, Owner and President of the Flight. "Rebekah's ultimate goal is to work with the NBA's Orlando Magic. We want to provide her with the tools and experience necessary to competitively compete for such an opportunity."
Day is currently a sophomore varsity basketball player attending Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida pursuing a Sports Management degree.
Upon her promotion, Day added, "I am thankful for this promotion. It's such a blessing to be a part of this organization, and I'm looking forward to this exciting upcoming season with the Florida Flight."
King added, "We're doing our best to provide opportunities for people with a passion to work in the sports and entertainment industry. Investing in others is at the core of everything that we do!"
