Florida Flame Acquire Forward Duane Erwin

FORT MYERS, Fla., January 25 - According to an announcement by Head Coach Jeff Malone, the Florida Flame has acquired forward Duane Erwin from the NBA Development League available player pool.

Erwin, 6-9, 245, was acquired by the D-League's Fayetteville Patriots on December 6, 2005 and waived on January 11, 2006 after playing in eight games (one start). He averaged 19.5 minutes, 4.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest. The Huntsville, Ala. native posted a season-high 10 points along with six rebounds and two blocked shots versus Florida on December 17, 2005. A rookie from the University of Memphis, Erwin averaged 7.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocked shots for the Tigers last season.

The Flame will face the Fort Worth Flyers in their next game tomorrow night, Thursday, January 26, with tip-off time at the Fort Worth Convention Center set for 8:00 p.m. ET/ 7:00 p.m. CT. That contest will be the second of a four-game road swing for Florida. The Flyers defeated the Flame on Tuesday night, 111-83, in their first meeting of the 2005-06 season. The Flame will round out the road trip with back-to-back games at Tulsa on Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 at the Expo Square Pavilion.

Florida currently sits atop the NBA D-League standings with a 15-8 record. The Flame have a one-and-a-half game lead over second place Fort Worth (14-10) and a two-game lead over third place Albuquerque (12-9) in the D-League standings entering tomorrow night's contest.
