Florida Firecats Host Second Open Tryout

Estero, FL- The arenafootball2 (af2) Florida Firecats will conduct their second open tryout Saturday, January 24th at Estero High School. The tryout is open to all players and positions.

Former Florida State place kicker Gary Cismesia, the Seminoles fifth all-time scorer, was among the notables who participated in the Firecats first tryout h eld back in November.

"We had a tremendous turnout last time," said Firecats Coach Kevin Bouis. "We had a couple of guys we offered to sign with us and we're bringing a few more back for a second look. That being said, we're always looking for guys to come out and compete and try and earn a spot on our roster."

12 of the 23 players on the Firecats 2008 post-season playoff roster were Florida natives. "It's no secret that there is great football talent here," added Bouis. "We want the best of the best and finding homegrown talent has been a one of the reasons why we've been so successful over the years."

Players will be required to participate in a Pro-Style combine, outdoors on natural grass. Proper workout attire is required and cleats are recommended. The tryout will begin at 11 a.m. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. A $75 cash only registration fee is due the day of the tryout.

Florida will kickoff it's 2009 season at home on Saturday, March 21st against their South Division rival the South Georgia Wildcats.
