
Florida Firecats Fall To Fourth in Week Eight Coaches Poll

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats received 383 points to fall to fourth in the Week Eight Coaches Poll, the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced today. The Firecats (6-0 for the first time in team history) fell out of the third spot for the first time in five weeks after a tough 49-43 home win against the Manchester Wolves last Saturday.
By securing 437 out of a possible 448 points, the defending ArenaCup champion Tulsa Talons maintained the top spot in the poll for the eighth consecutive week. The Talons (7-0) continued their perfect start to the 2008 season by holding off Rio Grande Valley 45-40 Saturday night in Tulsa. The Spokane Shock (6-0) maintained their grip on the number two spot for a seventh straight week after earning a 62-42 home win over West Division rival Boise. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (6-1) moved into the third spot on the strength of a dominating 84-26 home victory over Quad City. Florida (the af2's only other undefeated team) and Green Bay (5-2) rounded out the top five.
Each week during the season, af2 coaches vote for the Top 16 teams in the league by ranking them one through 16. The complete Top 16 is listed below. The number in parentheses indicates the number of first place votes the team received.
