TODAY'S GAMES: Games one and two of a three-game series against the Charlotte Stone Crabs (TB) at Osceola County Stadium...Games one and two of a seven-game homestand against the Stone Crabs and Bradenton Marauders (PIT)...Florida is coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Clearwater Threshers at Spectrum Field...Second of four series (11 games) against the Tampa Bay Rays' affiliate, with five matchups taking place in Kissimmee...The Atlanta Braves' affiliate split a two-game series against Charlotte at Osceola County Stadium from July 4-5.
TODAY'S STARTING PITCHERS: 22-year-old Tucker Davidson makes his 19th start of the season in the series opener against the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Tuesday afternoon...The Amarillo, Texas native entered the 2018 season as the 13th- (Baseball America) and 23rd- (MLB.com) ranked prospect in the Atlanta Braves organization...The southpaw suffered his seventh loss of the season in a 4-0 defeat to the Dunedin Blue Jays on July 17...The Midland College product allowed four runs on 10 hits and three strikeouts in five innings of work...Tuesdaywill be Davidson's first career start against the Stone Crabs.
20-year-old Ian Anderson makes his 18th start of 2018 in the night cap against the Stone Crabs on Tuesday...The 6'3" hurler came into the campaign as the Atlanta Braves' fifth-ranked prospect according to Baseball America, and is currently fourth according MLB.com, and is the 42nd- (Baseball America) and 51st- (MLB.com) overall rated prospect in baseball...The native of Rexford, N.Y. did not factor into the decision of an 11-3 victory over the Clearwater Thershers at Osceola County Stadium on July 14...The right-hander allwed just two runs - one earned - on five hits, three walks and eight strikeouts across six quality innings on 94 pitches (67 strikes)...Tuesday will be Anderson's first career start against the Stone Crabs.
WALKER TOSSES QUALITY START IN RUBBER MATCH DEFEAT: Jeremy Walker allowed one unearned run across seven innings of work in the Florida Fire Frogs' 2-1 loss to the Clearwater Threshers on Saturday night. Both runs allowed by Florida were unearned.
Lucas Herbert's clutch, two-out RBI double in the eighth inning drove home Kevin Josephina to tie the game at a run apiece. Clearwater responded by pushing across a run on an errant throw by Josephina in the bottom of the inning, with Kevin Markham scoring the go-ahead run.
BECOMING THE KING: Jared James picked up another hit in the finale to extend his hitting streak to seven games...The 24-year-old is hitting .290 through the fourth month of the season, with a .361 mark over his last 10 games...The outfielder has raised his average 32 points from .217 from .249 during the hitting streak from July 14-21, going 13-for-26 with eight runs scored and nine RBI.
