Florida Fire Frogs News Release

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Flrorida Fire Frogs opened up their three-game series with a rain-shortened, 11-2 loss to the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Tuesday afternoon. The contest was called due to rain after one pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Tucker Davidson (6-8) ran into trouble after Lucius Fox started the game with a double, and followed the two-bagger with a single by Josh Lowe. The lefty hit Robbie Tenerowicz on a 1-2 pitch, and suffered his first two runs allowed on a two-run single by Jesus Sanchez.

The line continued to move as Rene Pinto drove home Tenerowicz with a single to put Florida (14-17, 43-54) behind by three. After a walk to Jake Fraley, Jermain Palacios' sacrifice fly to center finished brought across Sanchez to finish the four-run frame.

Braxton Davidson (1x2, R, HR, 2 RBI, BB) clubbed a two-run shot to right in the third to cut the home team's deficit in half, but Charlotte (17-13, 51-46) answered with six runs in the top of the fourth to put the game out of reach.

The visitors plated an extra run in the sixth for the final tally of the night.

The Fire Frogs try to bounce back by sweeping a doubleheader to close out the series against the Stone Crabs at Osceola County Stadium. RHP Ian Anderson (2-5, 2.85) takes the mound for Florida in game one, and LHP Jon Kennedy (5-4, 2.25) toes the rubber in game two. It has to be announced who will oppose Florida's starters for Charlotte. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m., with coverage beginning at 10:45 with the Florida Fire Frogs Pregame Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting network.
