Florida Basketball Association Launches Inaugural Season with Four Teams
April 7, 2012 - Continental Basketball League (CBL)
Florida Flight News Release
(Orlando, FL) - The Florida Basketball Association (FBA) will conduct its inaugural season with four active teams, league officials decided today.
According to FBA Commissioner Greg Kite, those four teams will be the Florida Flight, the Palm Beach Titans, the Tampa Bay Rebels and the Heartland Prowl.
Today's decision means the Miami Stars and Panama City Dream will not be part of the league's first season, though they will still be strongly considered for expansion during the 2013 season.
A revised FBA schedule will be released by the end of the week. The teams will now have a 12-game schedule, including two home and two away games against each opponent.
The season will still kick off on Saturday, May 5 with the Rebels heading to West Palm Beach to face the Titans. The following week, the Prowl visits Orlando to take on the Flight for their season opener.
Instead of a 4-team championship series, the FBA Championship will pit the two teams with the best regular-season records. The championship game has been scheduled for Saturday, July 28, and will be hosted by the team with the best record.
