Flint Generals Announce Training Camp Schedule

FLINT, MI - It's hard to believe that hockey season is fast approaching, but the Flint Generals are getting ready to start training camp next week.

The Generals of the International Hockey League announced today (Monday) its training camps schedule. All practices and scrimmages will take place at Perani Arena and Events Center and will be open to the public. Fans are encouraged to drop by and see the hopefuls vying for positions on the team.

The activity officially begins on Sunday, Oct. 7 with physicals and individual photos. On Monday, Oct. 8 there will be physical testing in the morning.

Practices will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 9 and run through Thursday, Oct. 11 with the Blue Team on the ice from 9 am to 10 am and then the Yellow Team from 10 am to 11 am. There will be a scrimmage from 3:30 am to 5 pm on those days. All practices are once again open to the public.

The first opportunity for fans to look at the Generals will be during a pre-season game on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 pm when the Port Huron Icehawks will visit Perani Arena. Tickets for the pre-season game are just $5 and will be available starting Monday at the Ticketmaster Box Office.

On Saturday, Oct. 13 the two teams will play each other again, but this time it will take place in Port Huron also at 7:30 pm. Fans who cannot make it to Port Huron, will be able to listen to the contest live on Unforgettable 1470 WFNT. The broadcast begins with the Generals Pre-Game Report protected by Teachout Security at 7:10 pm. Denis J. Puska will provide all of the play-by-play action at 7:30 pm. The game will also be available on the World Wide Web at www.flintgenerals.com by clicking on the listen live link. There will be no B2 Network video coverage for both pre-season games.

The Flint Generals regular season faces off on Friday, Oct. 19 when the Port Huron Icehawks make a return visit to Perani Arena at 7:30 pm.
