(Orlando, FL) - Members of the Florida Flight spent Saturday, March 12 on the east side of Orlando taking part in a community project titled Taking it to the Streets.

The community outreach event, organized by River Run Christian Church, United Global Outreach and the Orange County Academy, involved various indoor and outdoor labor projects specifically designed to help enhance the quality of life of the underprivileged community of Bithlo, Florida.

"It feels good to get out in the community and show people we care," said Ernest Jones, starting guard for the Flight. "Actions always speak louder than words."

Flight members helped organize the library and media room, clean up the kitchen, and helped with the landscaping surrounding the school and outreach center.

"We plan to adopt this community as our own," said Mark King, Owner and President of the Florida Flight.

The Flight is also assessing an opportunity to host an outdoor charity game at the beautiful Bithlo Community Park, which boasts a covered, well-lit outdoor court. Confirmation of such an event will be released in the coming weeks.

The Florida Flight is a member team of the Continental Basketball League. The mission of the Florida Flight is to utilize the platform of professional basketball to invest in the lives of others.
