Huntsville Flight News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Dec. 27, 2002) â Bakari Hendrix and Lonnie Harrell combined for 42 points to lead the Huntsville Flight to a 76-63 National Basketball Development League victory over the Mobile Revelers here Friday night at the Von Braun Center.
The Flight (11-7) jumped back into first place in the standings by virtue of the win, coupled with a Fayetteville loss at home to Asheville. Huntsville also snapped a two-game losing streak at home. Mobile (6-9) lost for the third straight contest.
Hendrix led all scorers with 22 points as he converted 9-of-17 shots from the floor, while Lonnie Harrell contributed 20 as the only Huntsville players to notch double digits. A.J. Guyton, playing in his first game with the Flight after signing with the team earlier in the day, notched six points in 16 minutes off the bench.
Former Milwaukee Buck Rafer Alson, who also signed today with Mobile, led the Revelers with 14 points off the bench, while Derek Hood collected 12 and Rod Grizzard 10.
The game started with the teams trading buckets and then the Flight never looked back as they went on a 8-1 run over the next three-plus minutes to take a 10-3 advantage.
The Flight increased that advantage and led by as many as 16 points. Huntsville held a double-digit lead for most of the second period and all of the third quarter as the Revelers could not close the gap closer than seven points down the stretch in the final quarter.
Huntsville hit 30-of-65 shots for the game for 46.2 percent, while the Revelers were limited to 39.4 percent from the floor as they made just 28-of-71 shots. The Flight also outrebounded the visitors 40-31.
The Flight return to action Saturday when they play host to Roanoke in a 7:30 p.m. CT contest at the VBC. Mobile returns home Saturday to face Columbus in a 7 p.m. CT tilt.
