Mobile, Huntsville Add Players

GREENVILLE, S.C. (December 27, 2002) - Both the Mobile Revelers and the Huntsville Flight filled vacant roster spots with guards Friday, according to an announcement by National Basketball Development League Executive Director Karl Hicks.

The Revelers picked up 6-foot-2, 177-pound Rafer Alston, a Rucker playground legend who played the last three seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. Huntsville has acquired former Indiana star A.J. Guyton, a 6-1, 180 guard who began this season with the Golden State Warriors after playing for the Chicago Bulls for two years.

Guyton takes the Huntsville roster spot vacated by Mike Wilks, who was signed by the Atlanta Hawks earlier this week. Alston assumes the roster position vacated when the Revelers waived Sean Colson last week.

Alston, a.k.a. "Skip to my Lou", played in 114 games with the Bucks after coming out of Fresno State in 1998. A second-round selection (39th overall) in the 1998 NBA Draft, Alston averaged 2.8 points and 2.5 assists during is time in Milwaukee, his best being 3.5 points and 2.9 assists in 50 games during the 2001-02 season.

Guyton, a '00 Indiana product, played in 80 NBA games with the Bulls and the Warriors after being selected in the second round (32nd overall) by the Bulls in the 2000 NBA Draft. His NBA career averages are 5.5 points and 1.8 assists per game, with his best numbers being 6.0 points and 1.9 assists as a rookie with Chicago in 2000-01. He scored a career-high 24 points against New Jersey April 17, 2001.

Both Alston and Guyton are expected to join their respective teams in time to face one another when Huntsville entertains Mobile at the Von Braun Center tonight. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. CT.

Guyton has been assigned jersey number 11 for the Flight. Alston will wear number 3 for Mobile in the game at Huntsville, then be permanently assigned number 11.
