Florida Flight News Release

(Orlando, FL) - Looking to avenge a five-point loss in their season opener, the Florida Flight played with a vengeance and soundly defeated the Palm Beach Titans 119-67.

The Flight (1-1) quickly seized control of the game and never looked back, as they led 29-14 after one quarter. By halftime, the lead swelled to 65-29.

The Flight's defense was especially impressive. They limited the Titans to 37% shooting for the game and the Titans never scored more than 20 points in any quarter.

"We were very fired up for this game," said Flight Owner and Coach Mark King. "I was proud of our defensive effort. We were able to take turnovers and create excellent transitional opportunities, and we took advantage of them. This was a big win for us!"

Peter Joyner, playing in his first Flight game, led the team with 22 points, pacing seven Flight players in double figures.

Kamar Russell scored 16, while Ernest Jones and Corey Williams each scored 14 (with Williams a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor).

Point guards Jones and Marcus Patterson had nine assists each for the Flight, while Russell and Adam Waldo led the team with nine rebounds apiece.

Neal Morton scored 19 and Andy Stoute scored 18 for the Titans, who dropped to 1-2 on the season.

The Flight have a bye week upcoming, followed by a double header the following weekend. They face off against the Rebels in Tampa on June 2nd, and return home the following day to take on the Heartland Prowl in Avalon Park (Orlando).

The mission of the Florida Flight is to utilize the platform of professional basketball to invest in the lives of others. The 2012 season is dedicated to the "Bithlo Needs a Bus" Campaign.
