August 3, 2023 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

David Fletcher and Brandon Drury blasted back-to-back home runs to help the Salt Lake Bees (12-18) to their second straight win over the El Paso Chihuahuas (14-16) 9-4.

Both offenses were quiet early, as the Bees and Chihuahuas combined for just one hit through three innings until the bats came alive in the fourth frame. El Paso briefly had a lead with a run in the fourth, but Salt Lake came roaring back in the bottom half with back-to-back homers from Fletcher and Drury followed by three more Bees RBIs to hang a five-run inning on El Paso. The Bees retained their momentum with a Trey Cabbage sacrifice fly in the sixth to extend their lead. Salt Lake added another three insurance runs in the eighth and El Paso attempted a late comeback with two runs in the ninth inning before Eric Torres shut the door.

Bees' starter Jake Kalish was excellent, going 5.2 innings allowing just one unearned run on six hits to earn his fifth win of the 2023 campaign. The Bees bullpen was solid as Kolton Ingram, Zack Weiss and Eric Torres combined to allow three runs in the final 3.1 innings with three strikeouts..

The Bees and Chihuahuas meet again tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. for the fourth of their six-game series at Smith's Ballpark on Sandlot Night, celebration of the 30th anniversary of the legendary baseball film shot in Utah with live appearances from the original cast.
