Cape Cod Frenzy News Release
Orleans, MA: The Cape Cod Frenzy of the American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that 6'10 center-forward Mark Flavin has joined the team. Flavin had an impressive 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks in his debut last night against the Brooklyn Comets.
Flavin is from nearby Weymouth, Massachusetts and played his college ball at the University of Maine. While a 'Black Bear" he was a second team All America East selection in 2003-2004, posting averages of 10.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. He has played overseas in Latvia, Lithuania, Turkey, and Portugal as well as in the CBA.
Flavin will face a tall task tonight as the Frenzy prepare to battle the Maryland Nighthawks and 7'9 Sun Ming Ming. Ming is the tallest player ever to play professional basketball and the second tallest player currently living. Maryland also features infamous streetballer Randy Gill aka "White Chocolate". Maryland looks to have their hands full with 2007 ABA All Star forward Rob Sanders for the Frenzy. Sanders posted a triple double last night with 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 14 assists. Tonight's game is at 6:05 PM at Barnstable High School.
The Frenzy fell to the Comets 108-105 despite holding a lead with 2 minutes to play. The Nighthawks are fresh off three consecutive road losses to Buffalo, Vermont, and last night to Quebec City. Following the game, the Frenzy will depart for Rochester, New York to face the ABA Champion Rochester Razorsharks tomorrow at 4:05 PM at the Blue Cross Arena.
