Flash Defender Jaelene Hinkle Gets First Cap with U.S. Women's National Team

SEATTLE (Wednesday, October 21, 2015) - Western New York Flash defender Jaelene Hinkle earned her first international cap on Wednesday night, coming in as a substitute in the U.S. Women's National Team's 1-1 draw with Brazil in front of 23,603 fans in Seattle.
Hinkle, who was one of two Flash players to play all 1,800 minutes in 2015, stepped onto the turf at CenturyLink Field in the 71st minute as a replacement for Kelley O'Hara.
Flash midfielder Samantha Mewis, a finalist for 2015 NWSL Rookie of the Year, also entered the match at the same time and to earn her fourth career cap.
Both players made immediate impacts for the USWNT, who were down 1-0 until Carli Lloyd's equalizer in the 85th minute. Lloyd's goal came after a string of clever passing from the Americans, with Hinkle in the mix.
Mewis nearly connected on a cross from Alex Morgan late in match, but the ball was just beyond her reach.
U.S. allocations Sydney Leroux and Whitney Engen were also available as substitutes on Wednesday night.
