Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. (Friday, July 24, 2015) - The Western New York Flash begins the second-half of a four-game homestand on Saturday night when the Houston Dash come to Rochester for a 7 p.m. ET matchup.

About the Matchup

The Flash and Dash have matched up four times since the latter team joined the league in 2014, with the Dash holding the all-time series at 1-3-0. The Flash's lone victory came on July 5, 2014, when the Flash rode to a 4-1 win at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Saturday's match will also feature the return of Carli Lloyd to Rochester, who was traded to Houston in October in exchange for Whitney Engen, Becky Edwards and a third round 2016 draft pick.

In addition to Edwards and Engen, midfielder Ashley Nick will also be facing her former team as she was acquired by the Flash in May in exchange for center back Toni Pressley.

Flash Last Game

The Western New York Flash got out to a quick start on Sunday afternoon against Sky Blue FC, scoring just minutes in when Jasmyne Spencer capitalized on a corner kick for her second goal of the season.

Later, defender Jaelene Hinkle scored her first professional goal with a long-distance shot from the top of the penalty area to put the Flash up 2-0. Sky Blue responded with a goal off the feet of Nadia Nadim but Michelle Heyman was able to score her first NWSL goal in the second half to make it a 3-1 Flash advantage.

That lead, however, would not hold as Sky Blue added the next and final two goals to push the match to 3-3 and both teams walked away with one point.

Heyman and Samantha Mewis led the Flash with five shots while Chantel Jones made seven saves in the net.

Houston Last Game

The Dash will be on a short turnaround on Saturday, playing just Monday night in Kansas City. The two teams played to a 1-1 lead, and it was the first game back for Houston's USA World Cup Players.

Lloyd scored Houston's lone goal, beating KC goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart on a low, free kick. The Blues equalized just 10 minutes later, however, when Pressley conceded an own goal after a driven cross from Heather O'Reilly.

Game Promotions

Saturday is "Small Business Saturday" at the Flash game, as multiple Western New York small businesses will be in the concourse pregame to promote their products, services and shopping within the local community.

In honor of Michelle Heyman earning Week 14 NWSL Player of the Week honors, the Flash will be offering all game attendees $23 off all Flash and Team USA jerseys, in honor of Heyman's jersey number, 23. The promotion is only available in-game at the Flash Shack.
