Sky Blue FC News Release
Piscataway, N.J. (Friday, July 24, 2015) - Coming off a three-goal outing last Sunday afternoon in Western New York, Sky Blue FC (2-6-5, 11 points) will welcome the Boston Breakers (3-7-3, 12 points) to Yurcak Field in Piscataway on Saturday night, with kickoff slated for 7:00 PM.
"Boston has had similar results to us this season," said Jim Gabarra, Sky Blue FC Technical Director & Head Coach. "They have been playing better but have fallen prey to some late goals and have been a bit unlucky as well. The league standings have continued to get tighter, and this is a critical game for both teams. We both understand how huge it would be to get three points."
Sky Blue FC is coming off its best offensive output of the season, scoring three goals in a 3-3 draw with the Western New York Flash last Sunday at Sahlen's Stadium. The New Jersey side overcame a 3-1 second half deficit to level the game, and three different players recorded tallies. Midfielder Katy Freels recorded a goal and an assist, with Nadia Nadim and Christie Rampone also scoring in the encounter. Kelley O'Hara had a pair of assists in the match, while goalkeeper Brittany Cameron registered 10 saves.
Boston most recently played this past Wednesday at home, falling 2-1 to the Chicago Red Stars due to an 89th minute goal from Chicago striker Christen Press. With the result, the Breakers find themselves amid a six-game winless streak.
"This should be a wide-open game," Gabarra predicted. "Both teams are looking for three points. This will not be one of those situations where the road team will be satisfied with just one point. We can select from close to our full roster on Saturday, and we are coming off a game where we scored three goals. The reverse of that is we also gave up three goals, so we have been addressing both sides of the ball this week in training."
Individual and group tickets for Saturday's match are on sale now and can be purchased online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849). Additionally, walk-up tickets will be available at the Yurcak Field box office on Saturday.
