Flames Reassign Mikael Backlund And Brett Sutter To Abbotsford

Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today that forwards Mikael Backlund and Brett Sutter have been reassigned to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Backlund and Sutter will join the Abbotsford Heat for the opening round of the AHL playoffs as they start on the road this Thursday, April 15 against the Rochester Americans.

Backlund, a native of Vasteras, Sweden, played in 23 games with the Calgary Flames this season earning his first career goal and adding nine assists. Backlund was named as the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for February 21-28.
